A small meatball at the anus suggests suffering from the following conditions: First, internal hemorrhoids prolapse. Internal hemorrhoids are often located inside the anus, near the dentate line of the anal canal. As the size of the hemorrhoid nucleus increases, the mucosal layer of the nucleus separates from the base of the anal canal. When the patient defecates, the nucleus of the hemorrhoid will prolapse from inside the anus and the patient feels a meatball or several meatballs at the anal opening. Second, anal papillary fibroids. Anal papillary fibroids grow near the dentate line of the anal canal. As time goes by, the tip of the anal papillary fibroma becomes longer and longer, and the head end prolapses outside the anus. Third, rectal polyps. Rectal polyps grow on the rectal wall and into the rectal lumen. If the tip is too long, the head end of the polyp may also protrude outside of the anus, giving the patient the sensation of a small meatball at the anal opening.
