Stones in the urinary system are treated by the Department of Urology. Stones in the urinary system include kidney stones, ureteral stones, bladder stones and urethral stones. For example, stones in the kidney smaller than 2 cm can be treated with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. After lithotripsy, regular review is performed to observe the elimination of stones, but stones larger than 2 cm require surgery, but stones in the ureter less than 6 mm can be treated conservatively without lithotripsy or surgery. If more than 1cm, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy can be performed, but if the lithotripsy effect is not good, surgery can be performed. Stones between 0.6-1cm can be treated with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy as the first choice. Bladder stones and urethral stones can be treated by urethroscopy or cystoscopy, which requires an examination in the urology department to determine the treatment.
