The stool sample bottle is opened and a fresh soybean-sized piece of the patient’s feces is taken, with no other material mixed into the sample bottle.
The stool sample bottle is usually sterile, and the patient should be careful not to mix the stool with urine, other impurities, or to pull the stool from a diaper, paper towel, or an unclean pool of fecal matter, which can be contaminated and lead to an error in the test results.
To remove feces, use the small spoon on the cap of the sample bottle. Generally, feces the size of a soybean grain can be removed, or the feces can be removed up to the scale of the sample bottle. Remember not to touch anything other than the patient’s own feces when taking the sample.
If the stool sample result is abnormal, it is recommended to consult a doctor to identify the cause of the problem and to carry out treatment.
