In general, clavicle fractures in infants usually form a bone scab in about 1 month. Fracture healing is mainly divided into three periods, hematoma mechanization period, scab formation period and scab remodeling period.
1. Hematoma mechanization period: 6~8 hours after fracture, internal and external coagulation systems are activated, and blood clots are formed at the broken ends of the fracture. In addition, if the blood vessel breaks to make the fracture end ischemic, resulting in tissue necrosis, which in turn can cause aseptic inflammation, and then wrapped around the necrotic tissue, so that the hematoma mechanization to form granulation tissue.
2. Scab formation period: infants can form primitive bone scab in about 2 weeks. Firstly, the inner and outer bone scabs will be formed, new blood vessels will grow in, the inner and outer bone membrane will proliferate, fibroblasts will proliferate and secrete bone matrix, so as to make the tissue ossify and form new bone, i.e. intramembranous osseous formation.
3. Scab remodeling period: this process takes 1~2 years. The new bone trabeculae are gradually thickened, the primitive bone scabs are replaced by lamellar bone, and bony connections are formed.
In case of infant clavicle fracture, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital and standardize the diagnosis and treatment under the guidance of a physician to avoid delaying the condition.
