What are the symptoms of yellow urine

Yellowish urine may be caused by physiological reasons such as insufficient intake, consumption of food containing much coloring, etc., or it may be a symptom caused by pathological reasons such as liver and gallbladder diseases. 1. Physiological causes: (1) Inadequate intake: when drinking less water or sweating more due to hot weather, it can cause urine concentration and yellowing, with no uncomfortable symptoms, and most of them will get better after replenishment of water. (2) Consumption of food containing much coloring or taking medication: consuming too much fruit such as oranges, or taking B vitamins such as riboflavin can also cause yellow urine, which can return to normal after metabolism. 2. Pathologic causes: (1) Biliary tract stones and cholangitis: when stones block the bile ducts, symptoms such as deep yellow urine color and yellow staining of skin and sclera may appear, and may also be accompanied by abdominal cramps, chills and fever under or above the raphe, etc. Diagnosis can be assisted by blood serum total bilirubin examination and ultrasonography. (2) Cirrhosis: Jaundice can be caused by decreased liver function, such as yellowing of sclera, dark yellow urine, poor digestion and absorption, bleeding and anemia. Diagnosis can be assisted by liver function tests, ultrasonography, and gastric liver biopsy. There may be other reasons for yellowing of urine, patients need to consult the doctor for timely examination and early treatment.
