The Life Gate point is located in the lumbar region, in the depression below the spinous process of the 2nd lumbar vertebra, on the posterior midline.
The point can be easily located by drawing a line horizontally through the navel, extending to the back, and the point where it intersects with the lumbar vertebrae can also locate the Vital Gate point.
Vital Gate has the function of fixing essence and strengthening yang, cultivating energy and tonifying the kidneys, and can be treated with acupuncture or moxibustion. It can treat strong pain in the lumbar spine, impotence paralysis (weakness, numbness and pain in the lower limbs), and coldness and pain in the lower abdomen; it can also treat gynecological and male disorders such as irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, infertility, spermatorrhea, impotence, and so on.
