How long does it usually take to walk normally with a tibia fracture?

Tibia fracture generally 3~4 months can gradually begin to walk normally, individual cases of slower recovery time to extend 1~2 months. If the tibia fracture is a simple fracture, the periosteum and blood supply is not obviously damaged, this case is faster to recover, through external fixation or surgical treatment, most of the people can be basically healed in three months, and gradually get down to resume normal walking. If the fracture is a comminuted fracture, the fracture has obvious displacement, need to take surgical incision and internal fixation, after surgery need to rest for three months time, regular review X-ray, when the fracture localization completely healed, calf no pain can be considered to walk normally, usually in about 3~4 months time. Individual cases, such as the elderly or osteoporosis, combined with anemia, hypoproteinemia, or poor blood circulation at the fracture end, the recovery is slower, and may be prolonged for 1~2 months or even longer. Therefore, the time to walk on the ground is not exactly the same for tibia fracture depending on the degree of injury, and weight-bearing walking should only be considered when the fracture is fully recovered.
