What are the symptoms of herpes?

Symptoms of herpes typically include small blisters on the skin, usually in a dense pattern and with a somewhat flushed base, which may also lead to ulceration of the skin; in this case, herpes zoster is often distributed along the path of the peripheral nerves, usually on one side of the body on the ribs or on the face, in the form of bands. Herpes is usually caused by a viral infection and is contagious, spreading through close contact. In the early stages of the disease, the patient may develop clear colored blisters of varying degrees of severity on the skin, accompanied by significant localized itching. As the disease worsens, the blisters may rupture, resulting in ulceration or oozing of fluid from the skin, as well as headaches and muscle aches. Patients with herpes can be treated with acyclovir ointment and famciclovir ointment under the guidance of a doctor. In severe cases, oral antiviral medications such as ganciclovir capsules and acyclovir capsules can be taken.
