Symptoms of hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism can involve all systems and is characterized by fear of heat, excessive sweating, increased heart rate, polyphagia, and weight loss.
1. Hypermetabolic syndrome: patients are afraid of heat and sweaty, often have tachycardia and palpitation, but weight loss and fatigue.
2. Nervous system: patients are easy to be agitated, mental allergy, insomnia and nervousness, lack of concentration, anxiety and irritability, suspicion, etc. Sometimes there are hallucinations, and in severe cases, mania, delusion and schizophrenia.
3. Cardiovascular system: palpitation, shortness of breath, mostly sinus tachycardia, arrhythmia with atrial pre-systole is the most common, paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation or flutter.
4. Digestive system: hyper appetite, but significant weight loss, too much thyroxine can stimulate intestinal peristalsis so that the number of stools increased.
5. Reproductive system: female patients often have reduced menstruation, prolonged cycle, or even amenorrhea, but some patients can still get pregnant and give birth. In men, impotence is common, and breast development is occasionally seen.
