Fungal infections of the ear can use Dakinin ointment, but you need to wash the external ear canal with saline, clean up the fungal mass as well as the scabs, dry with a dry swab, and then use Dakinin ointment locally twice a day for about 10 days to be cured. Fungus of the external auditory canal is an acute as well as chronic inflammatory infection of the skin of the external auditory canal, and its causative organisms are mostly Aspergillus, Candida, and Staphylococcus aureus when combined with bacterial infections. It is often caused by repeated pulling out of the ear, damaging the skin of the external auditory canal; changes in external temperature and humidity; or repeated water ingress into the external auditory canal, which can cause itching, stuffiness, tinnitus and hearing loss. When combined with bacterial infection, pus will flow from the external auditory canal, emitting a foul odor, and black-brown secretions and necrotic material can be seen in the external auditory canal, and the skin of the external auditory canal can be seen to be congested, edematous, and vesiculated after removal. Treatment requires cleaning of the external auditory canal and topical application of dakin or fluconazole twice daily.
