Stroke centers are medical units, usually in hospitals where stroke centers are part of both the emergency department, neurology, and neurosurgery. A stroke center is a new model of care that combines all the traditional methods of treating stroke so that stroke patients can receive comprehensive treatment once they enter the stroke center. For example, if a patient comes to this hospital and is diagnosed with stroke, he or she is first seen by the emergency department, then neurology and neurosurgery are consulted, and if necessary, neurosurgery can be performed directly, and if there is no indication for surgery, neurology can handle it, including emergency intravenous thrombolysis and arterial embolization. After the patient’s condition is stabilized, the rehabilitation department can continue the rehabilitation treatment until the patient improves and is discharged from the hospital.
