Is it normal to not be able to hold your head up at 3 months?

It is not normal for a 3-month-old to not be able to hold his head up. This is usually due to lack of practice, calcium and vitamin D deficiency, cerebral palsy or other causes.
1. Lack of practice: Normal children will hold their heads up at 1-2 months, but if they still can’t hold their heads up at 3 months, it may be due to lack of training. Let your child learn to hold his head up more often, and you can start doing this practice when he is full term.
2. Calcium and Vitamin D deficiency: If your child can’t hold his head up at 3 months, it may be due to calcium and vitamin D deficiency.
3. Cerebral palsy: Cerebral palsy can also cause 3-month-olds to be unable to hold their heads up, and is often accompanied by increased or decreased muscle tone in the limbs, and significant delays in motor development.
4. Other causes: genetic factors, abnormal development of the central nervous system and so on.
It is not normal for a 3-month-old child not to be able to raise his head, so you need to bring your child to the doctor to avoid delaying the condition and to follow the doctor’s instructions.
