How long does it take for the stitches to fall out during normal labor?

Normally, the stitches used in normal delivery are absorbable threads that will absorb on their own and usually do not fall out. In the case of perineal or vaginal laceration or lateral perineal incision during delivery, the stitches are closed with absorbable threads, most of which will dissolve in a month or so; and a small percentage of them will be completely absorbed in about three months after delivery. Therefore, they do not come off normally. However, some women may not be able to absorb such absorbable threads by themselves, so they may fall out after the wound heals and fall off within seven days afterwards, which is a normal situation, so don’t be too nervous. After delivery, women should pay attention to local cleanliness and hygiene, and insist on using medication to prevent infection. In addition, if the absorbable sutures are still visible around 42 days after delivery, it is not necessary to be too nervous, you can go to the postpartum clinic for review and removal.
