How long does it take for the swelling of the appendix mass to go down?

In clinical practice, it takes about six months for an appendiceal mass to resolve. Appendiceal mass refers to the formation of periappendiceal abscess, which is caused by the encapsulation of the surrounding tissue when the appendix is perforated. If the patient’s condition is stable, antibiotic treatment or combined herbal treatment can be used first to promote the absorption and regression of the periappendiceal abscess. However, it should be noted that in most people, the periappendiceal abscess will shrink or disappear with anti-infection treatment and herbal therapy. However, in a small percentage of patients, the periappendiceal abscess will enlarge without a tendency to be confined. In this case, it is best to first perform ultrasound examination to determine the surgical site and perform abscess incision and drainage to promote the absorption and regression of the periappendiceal abscess. Postoperative anti-infection treatment should be strengthened and nutritional support treatment should be enhanced to promote postoperative recovery.
