Cranial MRI exams generally include cranial scan, diffusion imaging and angiography, which generally take about 15 minutes, but can sometimes take longer depending on the sequence of the patient’s exam, such as magnetic susceptibility imaging and perfusion imaging, both of which take about 15 minutes. If the patient finds other abnormalities, an enhancement scan is required, which requires an additional ten minutes of examination time on top of the plain scan to complete the examination. Magnetic resonance imaging includes magnetic resonance scanning, diffusion imaging, arterial imaging, magnetic susceptibility imaging and perfusion imaging, which are generally done in different ways depending on the patient’s condition. It is possible to keep the patient stationary.
