Thoracic spine compression fracture, if the fracture is mild or young patients, usually can be healed in 3 months after surgery; if it is severe and comminuted fracture or elderly patients, usually need more than 3 months after surgery to be able to heal. Thoracic compression fracture is affected by the severity of the fracture and the age of the patient. If the thoracic compression fracture is mild, with the ratio of the anterior to posterior edges of the vertebral body compressed by one-third, or if the patient is young, the healing process will be relatively fast, usually healing in 3 months. If the thoracic compression fracture is severe or comminuted, if the ratio of the anterior to posterior margins of the vertebral body is greater than one-half, or if the patient is older, the healing process will be slower and the healing time will be longer, possibly more than 3 months.
