What to check for glaucoma

Glaucoma patients usually need to undergo tests including intraocular pressure, atrial angle, visual field and optic disc examination.
1. Intraocular pressure (IOP): Pathologic elevation of IOP is a major risk factor for glaucoma, therefore, patients often need to undergo IOP measurements, and commonly used methods include pressure leveling IOP measurements, non-contact IOP measurements, and so on.
2. Atrial Angle: The opening and closing of the atrial angle is the basis for the diagnosis of closed-angle glaucoma or open-angle glaucoma, etc. Patients can directly observe the structure of the atrial angle through atrial anguloscopy.
3. Visual field: Changes in the visual field are the gold standard for glaucoma diagnosis, so glaucoma patients often need to undergo regular visual field examination.
4. Optic disc examination: Glaucoma optic disc changes are the objective basis for diagnosis, and patients often need to check the morphology of the optic disc.
It is recommended that glaucoma patients should consult a doctor in a timely manner to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
