The original formula of Ling Gui Gan Zao Tang consists of half a catty of Poria, four taels of Gui Zhi, two taels of Licorice and fifteen jujubes.
Ling Gui Gan Zao Tang has the efficacy of warming yang and inducing diuresis (replenishing yang qi in the body and promoting the circulation of water and fluid), and lowering rebelliousness and leveling rebelliousness. Among them, Fu Ling has the efficacy of inducing diuresis and seepage of dampness (promoting the operation of water and fluid to dispel dampness); Gui Zhi has the efficacy of lowering rebelliousness and leveling rebelliousness (resolving the rebellious qi by lowering the qi), which is able to drain the running dolphins; Licorice and Jujubes are able to support the Spleen-Earth and the Earth, and the strong Earth is capable of controlling water.
Ling Gui Gan Zao Tang can be used to treat palpitations under the umbilicus, running dolphins, as well as abdominal distension and dysuria (unruly urination).
The adverse effects and contraindications of Ling Gui Gan Zao Tang have not been clarified, and it is recommended that this drug be used under the supervision of a clinician.
