Is cough variant asthma “coughed up”?

Cough variant asthma is a special type of asthma with chronic and persistent cough as the main or only clinical manifestation, rather than a “coughing up disease due to untreated cold” or the so-called “coughing up asthma”. Studies have shown that in the early stages of asthma, about 5-6% of asthma patients have a chronic cough as the main symptom and are often mistaken for “chronic bronchitis” or “cold”. When should I consider having cough variant asthma? When the following clinical features are present, the disease should be highly suspected: 1. The cough is persistent or recurrent for more than a month, often occurring at night or in the early morning, and worsens after exercise. 2. The blood picture is normal and treatment with antibiotics or cough suppressants is ineffective. 3.Cough symptoms can be reduced with calming medication. 4.There is a personal history of allergy or family history of allergy. 5.Cough can be triggered by exposure to cold air or allergens, etc. 6.The chest X-ray is normal. For a definite diagnosis, it is necessary to go to the hospital to improve the bronchial excitation test, induced sputum eosinophil count and other tests, and to exclude other diseases that cause chronic cough.
