Advantages and disadvantages of breast milk

Advantages: 1. Nutritious. Breast milk contains albumin as whey protein, which can promote the formation of lactose protein; 2. Contains antibodies. When the infant’s immune system is not fully developed, breast milk can help infants to fight against diseases and allergies. Usually breastfed babies are less likely to get sick within six months of birth. 3. Convenient and hygienic. Breast milk is ready-made, no need to sterilize it, no need to mix it, and the temperature is right. If you go out with your child, breastfeeding does not require you to bring many bottles and jars, and you do not have to worry about milk spoilage. 4. The ratio of casein to whey protein in breast milk is 1 to 4, which is easy to be digested and absorbed; 5. A good way to calm babies. Sometimes the baby is crying and not hungry, but breastfeeding is a good way to soothe him because he needs that sense of security when he sucks at his mother’s breast. 6. It helps the mother get back in shape. The hormones released when you are breastfeeding can promote the uterus to return to its normal size soon, and the secretion of breast milk will consume the fat accumulated during pregnancy. 7. High taurine content; 8. Few fat particles, contains lipase, easy to be digested and absorbed; 9. Can promote the growth of bifidobacteria; 10. Can promote the absorption of calcium. Disadvantages: 1, low content of vitamin D; 2, low content of potassium, less than a quarter of formula; 3, prone to vitamin K-dependent factor deficiency; 4, some trace elements required for infant growth, such as vitamin AD and iron, zinc, etc. content is low; 5, some genetic diseases, infectious diseases may be transmitted to infants through breast milk. In summary, breast milk may not be the best feeding solution, and the combination of breast milk and formula is generally advocated. At the same time, for some infants who need a lot or have special needs because of certain diseases, they need to take some additional trace elements such as iron, zinc, calcium and vitamin AD.
