Minimally invasive treatment of meniscus injuries goes through the following process: 1. A routine knee examination and MRI are performed. The MRI will assess the degree of meniscal injury, the type of meniscal injury, whether the injury is medial or traumatic, whether the injury is to the anterior or posterior horn, and whether the meniscal injury is accompanied by popping and strangulation. If the meniscus is severely damaged by MRI and the physical examination is consistent with the signs of meniscus injury, then minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery is considered. 2. Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery is usually performed under lumbar anesthesia or local anesthesia to investigate the extent and type of meniscus injury and to treat the meniscus according to the investigation. The meniscus can be sutured or partially removed.
