Cervical cancer may recur in the paracervical, pelvic wall and cervical areas after surgical total excision; there is no most likely site. If cervical cancer recurs in the pelvic wall or paracervical region, symptoms such as pain in the lower limbs, edema or pain in the lower abdomen usually occur. Radiation therapy at this point can provide excellent relief from these symptoms. If it recurs in the cervical location, symptoms such as irregular vaginal bleeding or foul-smelling vaginal discharge will usually occur, and local excision and cryolaser treatment can be performed at this time. In severe cases, vaginal laser or X-ray vaginal tube irradiation can be used for treatment.
