What conditions cause low progesterone

Progesterone is an important progesterone hormone. Low progesterone may be caused by luteal insufficiency, preeclampsia and ectopic pregnancy.
1. Luteal insufficiency: Progesterone is mainly produced by the corpus luteum, and when the corpus luteum is insufficiently functioning, the secretion of progesterone will also be reduced, resulting in low progesterone.
2. Pre-eclampsia: If progesterone is low after pregnancy, it may be caused by pre-eclampsia, which will lead to a decrease in the concentration of progesterone.
3. Ectopic pregnancy: In ectopic pregnancy, since the pregnancy is not in the uterus, the embryonic gestation will be affected, and often the progesterone will be lower than the normal pregnancy value.
Low progesterone can also be caused by other reasons, it is recommended that people with low progesterone seek medical attention in a timely manner and be guided by a doctor to take progesterone supplements.
