Training for heel fracture rehabilitation

The method of rehabilitation training for heel fracture is different according to its treatment. If the fracture is not displaced, the ankle joint and toes are not movable in the early stage of external fixation by plaster, so it is necessary to move more joints that are not fixed, such as the hip and knee, to avoid stiffness of the joints, which will lead to difficulties in functional exercise later. In addition, we must also exercise the muscles of the thighs, commonly used to do straight leg raise training, usually straight knee, then slowly bend the hip, so that the lower limb and the bed at an angle of about 45 degrees fixed, and so the muscles of the thighs appear sore, swollen, weak feeling, slowly put down, this way can exercise the quadriceps muscle, to avoid quadriceps atrophy. If the fracture displacement is obvious, surgery must be done to reposition the internal fixation, and if the internal fixation is strong, external fixation with plaster is not needed after surgery. When the wound is stabilized after surgery, in addition to the above knee and hip activities and straight leg raising training, you can also do ankle pump training, which is to hold the ankle joint for five seconds after dorsiflexion and then plantar flexion for five seconds, this is called ankle pump training, which is specialized in exercising the calf muscles, thus promoting blood flow back to the lower limbs and speeding up the local swelling and pain of the heel fracture. This is called ankle pump training. Regardless of the treatment method, after the fracture has reached clinical healing, usually about 6-8 weeks, you can start to walk with weight on the ground and functional exercise. When the blood circulation in the lower extremity returns to normal, or when the functional exercise gradually returns to normal, the swelling will naturally subside. Generally, it takes more than three months for the whole recovery process to be able to walk normally.
