Is hysteroscopy a surgery?

Yes. Hysteroscopy is mainly used for minimally invasive gynecological treatment techniques, treatment or examination in the uterine cavity, and is mainly divided into hysteroscopic light source system or imaging system and irrigation system. Hysteroscopy allows direct observation of physiological or pathological lesions in the uterus, unblocking of occluded fallopian tubes, removal of endometrium causing bleeding, removal of submucosal fibroids, etc. It is mainly used for recurrent spontaneous abortions or frequent uterine bleeding and to determine abnormal conditions in the uterine cavity. The best time to have hysteroscopy is usually after 3-7 days of menstruation. Sexual intercourse and bathing should be prohibited after menstruation or 3 days before surgery. After the operation, more attention should be paid to rest for at least 1 week along with anti-inflammatory treatment to prevent secondary infection.
