We all know that alcohol has an effect on eggs and sperm, reducing the quality of eggs and sperm, while drinking during pregnancy is known to increase the risk of malformations in the baby. But just because there is an increased risk, doesn’t mean there is necessarily a risk. So, first of all, it depends on when you drink, if you drink within the first 28 days of pregnancy, generally speaking, the impact will not be particularly large. However, if the drink is taken after 28 days, it is in the sensitive period of the baby’s growth and development, in which the fetus will be more sensitive to the reaction of drugs and the external environment. Therefore, if you drink alcohol or become intoxicated at this stage, the probability of the baby developing malformations will increase significantly. In case of alcohol consumption, which is not a clear reason to terminate the pregnancy, you can also look at the development of the baby first. If fetal development is normal, you can usually continue to observe the baby, and at a later stage, you can look at the baby’s development through Down’s syndrome screening, 4D ultrasound, and so on. However, if there are obvious symptoms of preeclampsia in the early stages of pregnancy, it means that the effect of alcohol on the baby is still quite obvious, and it is recommended to consider termination of pregnancy in this case.
