There is no way for dural sac compression to heal itself without treatment, and patients need to visit an orthopedic surgeon for physical therapy, surgery, etc. Dural sac compression is common in cases of lumbar disc herniation, ligamentum flavum hypertrophy, calcification or lumbar spine osteophytes, in addition to spinal cord tumors and traumatic fractures of protruding bone masses, which may also cause dural sac compression. If the dural sac compression is caused by lumbar spine osteophytes, it indicates the local presence of protruding bone spurs, and if the bone spurs are not completely cut out, the dural sac compression cannot be lifted and therefore cannot heal itself. If the dural sac compression is caused by hypertrophy and calcification of the ligamentum flavum, it is also impossible to heal itself without cutting off the hypertrophy and calcified ligamentum flavum. For dural sac compression caused by spinal cord tumors and traumatic fractures, aggressive radiotherapy and surgery are required to improve the patient’s prognosis. Patients with dural sac compression should pay attention to rest, keep warm, do not touch the humid environment, and go to the rehabilitation department of the hospital for acupuncture, cupping and infrared therapy if possible. If the condition is severe, surgical treatment is needed to relieve the factors that are compressing the dural sac.
