What are the symptoms of hydronephrosis and how is it treated

Hydronephrosis can manifest as low back and abdominal pain, difficulty in urination, nausea and vomiting, hematuria and other symptoms. The treatment of acute stage of hydronephrosis includes indwelling urinary catheter, percutaneous nephrolithotomy and fistula, etc. Antibiotics need to be applied to patients with hydronephrosis that is combined with infection for obstruction and to establish a urinary drainage pathway.
Symptoms: Acute upper urinary tract obstruction refers to obstruction above the ureteral orifice, and often presents with symptoms such as renal colic, nausea, vomiting, hematuria, and percussion or pressure pain in the renal region. Lower urinary tract obstruction refers to obstruction of the bladder, bladder neck, posterior urethra and anterior urethra. It mainly manifests as urination difficulty and bladder emptying obstruction, and even urinary retention.
Treatment: For the acute stage of hydronephrosis, the methods to release upper urinary tract obstruction include ureteral stent implantation and percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Lower urinary tract obstruction relief methods mainly include indwelling urinary catheter, suprapubic cystocentesis. For obstruction combined with infection or more serious renal function damage, antibiotics need to be applied to control infection and establish urinary drainage route to relieve obstruction and reduce renal damage.
There are many reasons for hydronephrosis, in addition to the above there are ureteral tumors, stones and other possibilities, so hydronephrosis must be treated in a regular hospital.
