What about 14mm thyroid cancer?

Radical surgery, iodine 131 radionuclide, thyrotropin suppression therapy and external irradiation can be performed for 14mm thyroid cancer. 1. Radical surgery: lobectomy + isthmus resection is feasible for differentiated thyroid cancer, and total or near-total thyroidectomy should be performed for medullary carcinoma. Patients with cervical lymph node metastasis should undergo lymph node dissection in the central region. 2. Iodine 131 radionuclide therapy: if it is differentiated thyroid cancer, iodine 131 radionuclide therapy is feasible to remove the residual thyroid cancer tissue. 3. Thyrotropin suppression therapy: patients with total or near-total thyroidectomy should take thyroxine tablets for life to prevent hypothyroidism and suppress thyrotropin (TSH) to reduce the risk of recurrence. 4. External irradiation therapy: patients with undifferentiated thyroid cancer such as medullary carcinoma can be treated with external irradiation therapy. As 14mm thyroid cancer lesions are not very large, it is recommended that patients consult with a specialist to choose an appropriate treatment plan based on the patient’s specific situation such as pathologic staging, lymph nodes and distant metastases.
