How can I help myself and others at the scene of a car accident injury?

The Emergency Trauma Center of the Tenth People’s Hospital affiliated to Tongji has created a “green channel” for traffic accident injury rescue, which is a life channel. So, if a major traffic accident occurs, how can people at the scene save themselves and each other? On-site first aid for accident victims should be based on the injured part, different postures after the injury and the specific condition of the injured person, to take different first aid measures. The most common is that the driver is hit by the steering wheel or deformed cab and trapped inside it. After prying open the cab doors and windows, cardboard or thick plastic paper can be used to fix the neck to avoid cervical vertebrae dislocation or injury; at the same time, a board can be inserted into the back of the casualty, fixed with a bandage or cloth, and the casualty will be slowly moved out of the cab together. Do not arbitrarily pull the injured person out of the cab, resulting in secondary injuries, or even leading to life-threatening injuries. For the casualty who is bounced out of his seat or knocked down by the vehicle, he should not be lifted and held casually, but should first turn the casualty as a whole to the lying position, fix his neck, and lift him up by three or four people in step and move him to the wooden board; secondly, fix the casualty to the wooden board with the bandage, put his head behind and his feet in front of him, and carry him in a smooth way. If there is only one person at the scene, the first-aider should get close to the back of the casualty, pass his hands through the casualty’s armpits, grab his uninjured limbs and arms, gently lift them up, and then carefully drag them backward. When dragging, keep the head, neck and chest of the casualty in a straight line. The casualty’s surface skin bleeding in small amounts, can be bandaged with a cloth compression hemostasis; jet-like bleeding, indicating rupture of large blood vessels, should try to clamp the blood vessels to stop the bleeding; bleeding of the limbs, generally available bandage proximal to the end of the cardiovascular end, zapping an hour to relax for 5 minutes. When the limbs are fractured, the affected limbs can be temporarily fixed with wooden strips, branches, etc., so as not to puncture the fracture ends of the surrounding tissues, blood vessels and nerves. If the chest is squeezed and collided, rib fracture is easy to occur, at this time do not move the chest too much and touch it with your hands. In principle, it is forbidden to give any drink or tea to the injured. Because most of the injured must be surgical treatment, drink and tea will increase the difficulty of surgery. For those who have been unconscious, severe shock, head trauma and respiratory obstruction, it is strictly prohibited to use morphine, so as not to inhibit respiration and cover up the injury.
