What are the symptoms of liver cancer?

Usually, early liver cancer has no obvious symptoms or atypical symptoms, such as fatigue, fever, chills and night sweats.

Symptoms that may occur in later stages include:

  • Pain, swelling, or pressure in the upper right abdomen
  • Weight loss
  • Loss of appetite
  • Jaundice – yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes (yellowing of the sclera)
  • Itching all over the body
  • Swelling of the legs

Symptoms of advanced liver cancer include fever, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, general weakness, confusion, loss of libido, pain in the left side of the abdomen due to an enlarged spleen, and skin lesions (spider moles).

If any of these conditions occur, they may indicate liver cancer, so seek medical attention.

While these symptoms may also be caused by other liver diseases or other abnormalities in the body, they should not be ignored. Early diagnosis of the disease can lead to better treatment outcomes.
