Facial paralysis is a symptomatic manifestation, which may be caused by stroke or facial neuritis, as follows: 1. Facial neuritis: caused by facial neuritis is called peripheral facial paralysis, and the patient mainly manifests paralysis of facial expression muscles above and below the eye fissure at the same time, and there may be disappearance of frontal lines, enlargement of eye fissure, incomplete eyelid closure, flattening of nasolabial folds, crooked corners of the mouth, leakage of wind from whistles, and the taste sensation of tongue tilting 2/3, without physical symptoms and signs. 2. The patient may have paralysis of facial expression muscles below the ophthalmic fissure, basic symmetry of the frontal lines, no enlargement of the ophthalmic fissure, and no taste impairment of the anterior 2/3 of the tongue. 2. Stroke: If facial paralysis caused by stroke is considered, it is commonly seen in cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction above the facial nerve nucleus of the brainstem.
