Can a normal CT of the upper abdomen rule out stomach cancer?

Perfect CT examination of the upper abdomen with normal results does not exclude gastric cancer. The authoritative methods for diagnosing gastric cancer are still gastroscopy and gastric histopathology biopsy. At present, in order to confirm the diagnosis of gastric cancer, it is still necessary to look for signs of gastric cancer through gastroscopy, and if a suspicious area is found, tissues should be collected and sent for biopsy. If the biopsy reveals stomach cancer, the diagnosis can be confirmed at this point. Upper abdominal CT examination cannot find stomach cancer, but CT is the preferred clinical staging tool for stomach cancer, especially the scanning of a wide range of thoracic, abdominal and pelvic cavities, which can determine the location of the tumor as well as its relationship with other organs and blood vessels. Therefore, if patients want to exclude gastric cancer, they should improve gastroscopy regularly, and CT of upper abdomen is not very meaningful for confirming gastric cancer.
