What’s the cause of dyspnea?

Common causes of dyspnea include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary embolism, and cardiac insufficiency, as well as foreign bodies in the throat, asthma, pneumothorax, pleural fluid, and severe anemia.

1. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): patients with COPD have elevated airway resistance due to persistent airflow limitation, thus causing dyspnea.

2. Pulmonary embolism: the onset of the disease is rapid, sudden onset of dyspnea, cyanosis, chest tightness, chest pain, is one of the three most common causes of chest pain, and the condition is urgent and requires emergency treatment.

3. Heart failure, especially left heart failure, is usually accompanied by pulmonary edema, which in turn causes patients to cough and chest tightness and dyspnea. If the patient has trouble breathing, he should consult a doctor for a clear diagnosis and treatment of the cause.

4. Dyspnea can also be caused by foreign bodies in the throat, asthma, pneumothorax, hydrothorax, severe anemia, etc., which need to be further treated according to the cause.

Difficulty in breathing requires prompt medical attention to clarify the condition and to actively treat it.
