Tuberculous pleural nodules are mainly caused by the involvement of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the pleura. Tuberculous pleural nodules are usually caused by primary tuberculosis or secondary tuberculosis involving the pleura, resulting in pleurisy, interpleural fibrous hyperplasia causing localized pleural thickening, and when the thickening reaches a certain degree, pleural nodules will be shown on CT. For tuberculous pleural nodules, the main treatment program is anti-tuberculosis treatment, commonly used drugs are rifampicin, isoniazid, ethambutol, streptomycin, etc., but should strictly follow the doctor’s instructions for anti-tuberculosis drug treatment, to avoid drug-resistant refractory situation. The involvement of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the pleura can easily lead to pleural effusion, and if necessary, closed chest drainage should be performed to drain the excessive effusion. If the patient is not treated properly, the disease may develop into chronic tuberculous pyothorax. Surgical treatment is recommended for severe lesions, such as resection of the diseased lung and thoracoplasty. If you find tuberculous pleural nodules, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible to cooperate with the treatment, so as to avoid aggravation of the condition.
