Treatment of spinal nerve compression is usually conservative or surgical depending on the degree of compression. For patients with less severe compression, conservative treatment is usually used, including limiting the amount of spinal activity and bed rest, as well as traction on both lower extremities, which can significantly reduce the compression of the spine on the nerve. In addition, symptomatic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as fentanyl, furosemide tablets, and celebrex capsules can be administered orally, which can significantly reduce the aseptic inflammation of the compressed nerve root and thus reduce the symptoms of nerve irritation. Oral nerve-nourishing drugs, such as methylcobalamin tablets, can also be given. Chinese medicines with blood-activating and stasis-removing effects, such as safflower injection and salvia injection, can be given intravenously to improve the blood circulation at the nerve root, so it is beneficial to reduce the symptoms. For patients whose conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment can be taken. The surgical treatment is generally in the form of internal fixation of the pedicle screw with decompression of the vertebral plate.
