How to treat tension blisters

Tension blisters are most often seen in more serious injuries to the limb, such as fractures or crush injuries, where local blisters are formed due to high swelling. If the tension blister is relatively small, you can choose to disinfect the local area with iodophor and elevate the limb appropriately to reduce swelling. If the tension blister is very serious, with many blisters and large blisters, you can consider disinfection and aspiration of the blister fluid with a sterile empty needle, but keep the blister skin, and at the same time give anti-infection, local elevation of the limb to facilitate the reduction of swelling, with anti-swelling drugs, such as mannitol. After the appearance of tension blisters, which indicates serious local swelling, the peripheral circulation of the limb should be closely observed, especially in the lower leg, if it is highly swollen, serious problems such as osteo-fascial compartment syndrome may occur, and if necessary, incision and decompression should be considered.
