A white blood cell count of 18 x 10^9/L is not self-healing.
1. A normal human white blood cell count is (4-10) x 10^9/L. White blood cells are the main cells in the body that exert anti-inflammatory effects. The most common cause of elevated white blood cell counts up to 18 x 10^9/L is bacterial infections such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli.
These patients have a high degree of inflammation, which usually does not resolve spontaneously without aggressive anti-infective treatment. Therefore, patients need to further improve the C-reactive protein, calcitonin, chest CT, urine routine, stool routine and other related examinations to identify the infected foci, and assess the severity of inflammation, and choose sensitive antibiotics to actively anti-infective treatment, such as levofloxacin and so on.
2. A white blood cell count of 18×10^9/L may also be an early manifestation of leukemia, and the white blood cell count will increase progressively, which requires complete bone marrow aspiration and biopsy to make a clear diagnosis. If the elevated white blood cells are caused by leukemia, it cannot be cured by itself, and requires active combination chemotherapy, targeted therapy or bone marrow transplantation. Drugs include cytarabine, Zoerythromycin and so on.
It is recommended that the patient consult a doctor in a timely manner, improve the relevant examination to clarify the cause of elevated white blood cells, and actively treat the cause under the guidance of the physician.
