Is it true that smokers have a higher chance of contracting the new coronavirus?

It is not necessarily true that smokers are more likely to be infected with neocoronavirus and further research is needed. However, heavy smokers infected with neocoronavirus pneumonia are more likely to develop severe/critical cases. Although some overseas studies have shown that smokers are about 80% more likely to be infected with neocoronavirus, with a hospitalization rate about 60% to 80% higher than that of the general population, and with a higher mortality rate relative to non-smokers, this conclusion needs to be confirmed by further studies, and the conclusions are still inconsistent at this point in time. However, heavy smokers may have lung damage and are more likely to develop severe/critical cases when infected with C.neoformans, which will increase hospitalization rates, etc. Smoking is hazardous to health, and smokers are advised to quit and take personal protection during an outbreak.
