The heart is the organ that dominates life The function of the heart: people say the heart is important, what is important about it? It can be said in layman’s terms that the heart is the engine. Physically speaking, the heart is a continuously working pump that pumps blood from the veins back to the heart 24/7 and outputs blood that has been oxygenated by the lungs to the whole body. These tasks are performed by the regular contraction and diastole of the heart muscle. Once the heart muscle is damaged, the pumping function will be affected, which can seriously lead to sudden stoppage and death. Therefore, the most frightening thing about coronary heart disease is that it suddenly stops the heart and causes sudden death. Therefore, the heart is the organ that dominates life. The heart, which is composed of blood circulation, is divided into the left heart and the right heart. The left and right hearts are further divided into the left atrium and left ventricle, and the right atrium and right ventricle. Separating the left atrium from the left ventricle is the mitral valve, and separating the right atrium from the right ventricle is the tricuspid valve. The left ventricle is connected to the aorta and is separated by the aortic valve. The right ventricle is connected to the pulmonary artery and is separated by the pulmonary valve. Venous blood is pumped back through the right atrium and compressed into the right ventricle, which contracts to pump blood into the pulmonary artery, where it is oxygenated, pumped back into the left atrium, compressed into the left ventricle, and finally contracted by the left ventricle to pump blood into the aorta, where it is delivered to the coronary, cerebral, hepatic, and renal arteries of the heart, supplying the entire body with nutrients and delivering oxygen. Problems with any of these pathways can lead to heart disease and result in heart failure. Although the heart is full of blood, its own blood supply and oxygenation is carried out through the coronary arteries emanating from the root of the aorta. The coronary arteries, one left and one right, and the left coronary artery, which is divided into two branches, emanate from the root of the aorta and wrap around the entire heart from top to bottom, wearing it like a hat, hence the name coronary artery. The abnormal structure of the heart is called precordial disease if it is present at birth, and acquired heart disease if it is acquired after birth, such as wind heart disease, high heart disease, coronary heart disease, myocarditis, pericarditis, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary heart disease, etc. In addition, the heart is an engine that needs to be driven by electricity and has a regular and tight circuit structure to make the heart beat regularly, and problems with this part are called arrhythmias.
