What is the redness in the middle of the tongue?

Redness in the middle of the tongue may be due to flaking of the tongue moss in the middle, showing the color of the tongue texture, which belongs to flaking moss and is caused by lack of stomach qi, damage of stomach yin or deficiency of both qi and yin (deficiency of both qi and yin). In normal people, the tongue is covered with a thin layer of white moss, and when the tongue moss is partially peeled off, the smoothness of the peeled off area shows the color of the tongue texture, which is known as peeling off the moss. The middle part of the tongue corresponds to the spleen and stomach, and the redness in the middle can be treated with medicines that benefit qi and nourish yin (replenish qi and yin fluids) such as Yi Stomach Soup and Ginseng and Mai Drink, and with Chinese medicines that are effective in strengthening the spleen and stomach. Specific medication should be taken under the guidance of a physician. Those who have red tongue with discomfort should go to the hospital as soon as possible, and use medication reasonably after identification by TCM practitioners, rather than taking medication on their own.
