Why does the body appear numb

The body appears numb. The first consideration is cerebrovascular disease. After a stroke, the patient may experience numbness and in severe cases, weakness in the limbs, for example, numbness in the affected limbs due to thalamic lesions. Secondly, if the cervical spine lesion is severe and compresses the nerve roots and dural sac, the patient will have numbness of both upper limbs, or unilateral limb numbness, which can be accompanied by limb weakness in severe cases. At the same time, numbness in the lower extremities can also be considered a problem of the lumbar disc. If the lumbar disc herniation causes the corresponding dural sac to be compressed, the patient will also have numbness in the lower extremities.
