Can Tenofovir alone block HIV?

Taking tenofovir alone does not effectively block HIV. HIV treatment is often combined with 2 nucleoside inhibitors + 1 non-nucleoside inhibitor or protease inhibitor. 1. Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors: such as azidothymidine, tenofovir, abacavir, lamivudine, emtricitabine and so on. 2. Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors: e.g. Nevirapine, Efavirenz, Etravirine, Ribavirin, etc. 3. Protease inhibitors: such as ritonavir, lopinavir, tipranavir, atazanavir, and so on. Adverse reactions such as renal impairment and lactic acidosis may occur after tenofovir use. Those with liver and kidney injury, abnormal sugar and fat metabolism should be monitored to avoid serious consequences. Patients are advised to use the drug correctly under the guidance of a professional doctor, and not to use the drug arbitrarily on their own to prevent adverse effects.
