What are the acupoints to stop diarrhea

Acupoints for stopping diarrhea include Shen Que, Tian Shu, Da Ji Yu, Yin Ling Quan and Shang Ju Xu, etc. Acupoints should be selected based on evidence. The basic pathogenesis of diarrhea is spleen deficiency and dampness (the spleen’s function is weak and dampness stays), so the treatment of diarrhea follows the principle of transporting the spleen and transforming dampness. The main acupoints can be chosen from Tianshu, Shangjiuxu, Shenque, Daigongyu, Yinlingquan and other acupoints. Shen Que can be used with moxibustion to warm the yang and dispel dampness. Tianshu is the recruitment point of the large intestine, and Shangjiuxu is the lower conjunction point of the large intestine. Since the lesion site is in the bowel, Yu, recruitment and lower conjunction points are used together to regulate the intestinal tract. Yinlingquan strengthens the spleen and resolves dampness (strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness). If it is accompanied by dietary stagnation, it can be paired with acupoints such as Zhongjiao and Jianli; if you are not in a good mood (emotionally upset), you can add acupoints such as Taichong; if you have diarrhea for a long period of time, you can add acupoints such as Spleen Yu and Ashigarashiri; and if you are weak in Kidney-Yang, add acupoints such as Kidney Yu and Guanyuan. Moxibustion can be operated under the guidance of a physician, but needling should be operated by a specialized physician.
