Is there a problem with a negative occult blood test?

A negative occult blood test can only mean that the vast majority of patients do not have much of a problem. The occult blood test is often a routine stool test, and if there are no red blood cells or occult blood, the diagnosis is basically a negative occult blood test, which basically rules out the presence of gastrointestinal bleeding. However, there are special reasons, such as the absence of active bleeding during this examination, that may characterize a negative occult blood test. Therefore, if there are clinical symptoms, such as anemia, lethargy, weakness and irregular stools, in addition to the occult blood test, colonoscopy and gastroscopy should be performed to further assist in the diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis of gastrointestinal bleeding cannot be further ruled out by stool routine alone, but needs to be assisted by other related tests and a comprehensive systemic judgment to effectively confirm the diagnosis.
