Ovarian tumors are tumors that occur on the ovaries and are one of the common female reproductive tract tumors. Smaller masses usually do not produce symptoms, while larger, special types or faster growing tumors are prone to complications. The common complications are: 1.Tibial torsion: it is a common acute abdominal condition that occurs when the patient suddenly changes position, or when the position of the uterus changes during pregnancy or puerperium, and the patient experiences severe abdominal pain, accompanied by nausea, vomiting or even shock, which is common in ovarian teratoma; 2.Rupture: it can be caused by abdominal pounding, childbirth, sexual intercourse, gynecological examination, or the tumor grows too fast. 3.Infection: secondary to tumor torsion or rupture, or due to the spread of infection in neighboring organs, manifesting as fever, abdominal pain, lumps and elevated white blood cells, etc. 4.Malignant change: benign tumors can be malignant, often asymptomatic in the early stage, but malignant change should be suspected if tumors are found to grow fast, especially bilaterally. The cause of ovarian tumors is still unknown and it is difficult to prevent, women over 30 years old should have annual gynecological examination to exclude ovarian tumors and should not wait for complications before treating them.
