What happens when a semen specimen doesn’t liquefy completely?

Incomplete liquefaction of semen specimen may be caused by physiological factors such as emotional stress, late night, low temperature, etc., or pathological factors such as prostatitis. Usually the freshly ejaculated sperm is jelly-like and can liquefy within 15-30 minutes under normal circumstances. If the liquefaction is incomplete it is because the nature of semen has changed. And the reasons for this phenomenon are both physiological and pathological. If incomplete liquefaction of semen is just an occasional case, it may be caused by recent emotional stress, staying up late or low temperature of semen after ejaculation. It is recommended to have a regular routine and adjust your lifestyle. There is no special treatment for this condition. However, if this phenomenon persists, it may be due to inflammation of the prostate, seminal vesicles or glans. This can affect the quality of the sperm and, in severe cases, the fertility of the child.
