Can you walk with a broken tailbone?

Since the tailbone is not involved in weight bearing, it is possible to walk after a tailbone fracture, but prolonged walking and strenuous activity are not advisable to avoid aggravation of swelling and pain. The main clinical manifestation of the early stage of tailbone fracture is pain, which is manifested by the contact of the protruding part with a hard object when sitting or lying down, but it does not affect walking. However, the local swelling and pain will be aggravated by the stretching of the sacrococcygeal fascia during walking, so generally patients with coccyx fracture are not recommended to walk too much in the early stage of the fracture. After the fracture, patients can take conservative treatment, rest for about two months, avoid local pressure and pain when sitting and lying, cooperate with local hot compress, baking electricity and other treatments, or take oral blood-activating drugs under the guidance of doctors. For patients whose pain lasts for a long time, oral anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving drugs can also be taken to relieve the pain caused by the fracture. Patients are advised to take a light diet on a daily basis, avoid cold and spicy stimulating foods, and ensure sufficient rest to promote the healing of the fracture.
