Pulmonary restrictive emphysematous changes are those that occur in the localized tissues of the lungs such as decreased elasticity, hyperinflation, and inflation.
Emphysema is a pathologic condition in which the airways distal to the terminal fine bronchioles are hyperelastic, hyperinflated, inflated, and have increased lung volume or are accompanied by destruction of the airway walls. It may be caused by smoking, infection and inflammation of the fine bronchi, lumen narrowing or obstruction.
Most cases of restrictive emphysema are asymptomatic and usually show increased translucency on physical chest radiograph or lung ct, which means that the lung tissue appears to be overinflated and contains more air. The lesions are generally more limited and often do not cause any symptoms in the body.
However, it is important to review the scope of emphysema lesions to see if they are increasing in size so that they can be treated in a timely manner.
