The NT test is an early test to rule out Down’s syndrome, and the ultrasound examination will show that the fetal nuchal translucency layer is normally no thicker than 2.5 mm. if it exceeds 2.5 mm, the fetus has abnormal development and needs further examination. If Down’s syndrome is confirmed, labor should be induced to avoid affecting the baby’s development after delivery. The NT test is done at around 13 weeks of pregnancy. If the NT test results are normal, a blood test is also needed to rule out the condition. The blood test is usually done at 16-20 weeks of pregnancy for Down’s syndrome screening. If the test is normal, there is nothing to worry about.
